Netiquette

Today I read articles on the basics of email and internet etiquette. Most of it was pretty common sense stuff. I chuckled a little when I read the entry on avoiding ALL CAPS emails because my father is a two finger, all caps typer. Every time I get an email from him I feel like he is yelling at me. I think it highlighted to me one of the very important aspects of online communication. We have to remember that much of face to face communication we do is based on context, body language, tone and eye contact. We lose this in online communication. Because of this it is important to be clear and to the point and try to avoid sarcasm or inappropriate humor to avoid problems. Also, a adhering to basic elements of style helps everyone understand you better.
